MICRONEEDLING IN BUCKHEAD, ATLANTA
SKINPEN MICRONEEDLING
Microneedling is the most-popular treatment at SkynBar of Atlanta, located in the heart of Buckhead. It is ideal for those in the pursuit of skin rejuvenation and aging prevention. Microneedling is a quick, minimal-downtime procedure that allows for the significant enhancement of skin texture, tone, pore size, complexion, scarring, uneven pigmentation, wrinkles, and numerous skin imperfections. At SkynBar of Atlanta in Buckhead, we offer different microneedling depths to condition and support your skin needs.
Microneedling also pairs well with other topical treatments, such as anti-aging creams or serums, and lasers. Your SkynBar of Atlanta aesthetician can apply appropriate skincare preparations that support your skin’s recovery and collagen production.
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is also known as collagen-induction therapy because it is used to treat skin concerns by helping your body produce collagen. This minimally invasive treatment can reduce the appearance of stretch marks, acne scars, and sunspots.
If you’re in good health and have certain skin concerns that haven’t responded to home treatments or other types of procedures, including peels, then you may be an ideal candidate for microneedling at SkynBar of Atlanta.
How Does Microneedling Work?
Microneedling creates microscopic punctures in the skin, which encourages your skin to produce collagen. Simply put, very fine, short needles are inserted into your skin using a microneedling device. These micro-fine needles penetrate the skin at controlled depths and feel like tiny pinpricks. The idea is that these pinpricks cause slight injury to your skin, causing your skin to respond by making new collagen-rich tissue.
Why is collagen production important? Because, over time, your skin loses collagen due to age or injury. By encouraging collagen production, the new skin tissue that is regenerated is more even in tone and texture. In addition, by encouraging the skin to make new tissue, there may be more collagen to help make the skin firmer, too.
Our experience at SkynBar of Atlanta is that microneedling offers an immediate refreshed appearance. Your skin may look plump, pink, and luminous following treatment, with improvements in skin texture and tone developing over time.

Frequently Asked Questions
What can Microneedling treat?
Microneedling is most often used on your face to target:
+ Fine lines and wrinkles
+ Acne scars
+ Uneven skin tone
+ Age spots (also called sunspots)
+ Reduced skin elasticity
+ Large pores
+ Other types of scars
What should I expect?
During the procedure at our Buckhead office of SkynBar of Atlanta, we will create tiny microchannels in your skin using a microneedling device. These microchannels are so small that you likely won’t notice them after your skin has healed. Your SkynBar of Atlanta aesthetician will move the microneedling device evenly across your skin to promote consistent skin rejuvenation.
Even though the microneedling punctures are minimal, we will apply a topical anesthetic before your treatment to reduce discomfort. The actual microneedling process takes approximately 30 minutes, but you can expect to be at SkynBar of Atlanta longer to allow time for preparation and aftercare.
After your microneedling treatment, your skin begins its natural healing process and stimulates collagen production. You may begin to notice improvements within a few weeks, with results continuing to develop over time.
To maintain the results of your treatment, you may need multiple sessions and complementary treatments. Your SkynBar of Atlanta aesthetician will advise you on the best plan of action based on your individual goals.
How do I prepare for my Microneedling treatment?
When scheduling your microneedling appointment at SkynBar of Atlanta, let us know of any medications you are taking, including ibuprofen and those for acne treatment. We may also recommend that you stop using topical retinoids beforehand, too, as doing so may reduce the risk of certain side effects.
Is there any downtime?
Most of our patients at SkynBar of Atlanta do not require any downtime after a microneedling treatment, but if you do, the downtime should be minimal. You may notice skin irritation and redness within the first few days following the procedure. This is a natural response to the small “injuries” made by the needles in your skin.
If you’re comfortable, you can go back to work or school immediately after the procedure. Some of our SkynBar of Atlanta clients apply camouflaging makeup during the first few days as the redness dissipates.
Because your skin will be more sensitive to the sun, sunscreen is a must.
What are the risks or side effects?
Like all cosmetic procedures, microneedling isn’t without risk. The most common side effect is minor skin irritation immediately following the procedure. You may also experience redness for a few days. In addition, you may not be an ideal candidate for microneedling if you:
+ Have certain skin conditions, such as psoriasis or eczema
+ Have a history of keloid scarring or poor wound healing
+ Have open wounds or active skin infections
+ Are pregnant
+ Have recently undergone radiation therapy
How much does Microneedling cost?
At SkynBar of Atlanta, we offer individual microneedling treatments, as well as packages. Individual treatments are $300, with add-ons available, including specialized serums designed to lift, tighten, and rejuvenate your skin. Because microneedling is considered a cosmetic or aesthetic procedure, it’s typically not covered by insurance. Contact SkynBar of Atlanta to learn more about treatment packages and available payment options.
Can't I just use home dermarollers?
Many of our SkynBar of Atlanta clients ask us why they can’t perform microneedling at home rather than opt for professional treatments. While at-home microneedling devices are available, they typically don’t achieve the same results as professional microneedling. Unlike professional treatments, at-home rollers generally penetrate the skin at much shallower depths, limiting their ability to stimulate collagen production and skin rejuvenation.
If you’re interested in more noticeable, long-term improvements in skin texture, tone, and overall appearance, professional microneedling at SkynBar of Atlanta offers a more effective and controlled approach than store-bought roller devices.
